Site Launcher – Launch sites in a jiffy.

I just love Firefox. I know it’s not the fastest browser or the most compliant – but the tiny extension to browsers that are available for Firefox – just make it too perfect to disregard!

One such extension which grabbed my attention recently is Site Launcher. This cute little extension allows you to assigns a hotkey for any site – and opens up a site in a jiffy! Just perfect.

Site Launcher comes pre-configured with a number of sites but it just as easily allows you to configure sites of your choice. Pressing Ctrl + space bar brings up the Site Launcher and pressing on the hot key opens the site in a new tab.

This is just one of those little tools that really have a big impact on the way you surf – this one surely make it easier to access all your regular sites!

 

Markadee – Accomplish your goals

Markadee allows you to create calendars of task that you wish to accomplish. You can mark out days on which you performed your task and write a description of your task.

It has a pretty simple interface for doing so, just a calendar which allows you to mark off today and describe you accomplishment. The home page has a pretty neat picture description of everything you can do with Markadee.

It has a few other nifty features.

1. It uses your Gravatar avatar to display an avatar for you
2. It allows you to follow calendars (goals) of other people and comment on the accomplishments.
3. New and exiting features are added almost daily so it’s a place to watch out for!

Yahoo Smily – Nostalgia

It’s been a long time since I wrote a program that’s really satisfying. I was just going through some of my old stuff and I came across things that I thought were really nifty.

This one was made around four years ago. It’s a small tool that lets you grab the hidden yahoo icons pretty easily.

All you need to do is click on the hidden icon you want and it’s copied to you clipboard. You can then paste it in chat window and you’re done! A little text box describe the icon you select so you know what you have selected.

Survs – Create your Survey

Survs is a site that lets you create you own surveys and distribute and track the results. The site has an amazing interface – everything is Ajax based and everything fits into place so nicely. If I were to choose 1 site that implements Ajax features seamlessly and to its true potential I would choose Survs

The site has a tutorial screen cast in the front web page. However given how intuitive the site is to use that something you can skip. With just a few link and neatly present option you can easily create you survey. You can also work collaboratively on creating and managing surveys which seems to be a nice option to explore.

Here a short survey that I created using Survs. Survs is currently in private Beta so you need to register to get an invite – before you can start creating your survey.

Features.

1. Really neat and intuitive interface. Everything gets updated in real time so you don’t have to worry about saving anything.

2. It allows you different accounts under a single login so it makes managing your different type of surveys pretty easy. You can also collaborate with others for each account – allowing you to collaborate with different groups for different surveys.

3. You can analyze survey results by creating custom filters – another neat feature to look out for.

4. Survs allows you to distribute your survey using different channels – either a web link, embedded code or mail.

 

Conduit toolbar – Create your Customised toolbar

Once in a while you come across a web site which so innovative that all you can do is sit back and say ‘wow’ who could have thought of that!

Conduit toolbar is once such amazing idea. The moment I looked at it I knew I was looking at a winning idea. Conduit toolbar allows you to create and distribute your very own toolbars. With just a few clicks you can create a customized toolbar for your site.

The toolbar can have customized content for you site in addition to a lot of predefined gadgets to choose from. You can do a wide variety of things from adding an RSS feed to hosting forums for your user.

The best part with Conduit toolbar is its universal appeal. It’s useful for any web site whether it’s a startup or established one to give more features to its users.

Of course there are would be issues as is with any new innovation – security and privacy are allows a big concern. How useful could toolbars be if I have 100’s of sites offering them is another matter of concern – time will tell. For now I just too impressed to think of negatives!

Conduit creates a toolbar for Firefox and Internet Explorer – which should cover a maximum number of users.

Dopple Me – Online Avtaar

Dopple me is a website that allows you to create a avatar that you use in any web site. Just by changing the avatar at one place your avatar would change at all places that the signature is used.

The site is pretty intuitive to use and it’s very easy to create your avatar. You don’t have to register to create the avatar but registering gives you additional benefits.

There also something called dopple me coins that allow you to purchase additional features. You can earn coins by referring others or by buying coins at the dopple me bank.

 

TopWebBased – Web Based tool.

Topwebbased is a web based tool that just one page long. It’s not exactly a tool – just a list of some of the best web tools on the net. It has a caption that reads ‘No Download, No Install ! All the top web-based in-browser tools’. What strikes me as really amazing is how a single page site can be both useful and captivating.

The list spans many categories and as the list keep growing it would be fun to watch. You could also comment and add your own favorite tools in each of the categories.
